Over the years, several gatherings and traditions have evolved at Lincoln that strengthen our school culture, nurture the authenticity of our community and exhibit our values. We are proud of our community of adults and children who are committed to making our school warm, welcoming and fun.
Fall Fest is a family-friendly event held every October. Each year, the blacktop at Lincoln is transformed with a band, a food truck, booths, games and a face painting station. Kids are welcome to dress up in costumes and take a stroll through the “haunted maze”.
Laps for Lincoln is our annual fun run and the second largest fundraiser for our school. Students collect pledges and run as many laps as they can with their classmates and teachers. All students participate in Laps, regardless of whether they raised funds. Families are invited to cheer on their children and run with them.
Lincoln’s field transforms for a family-friendly movie night projected on the big screen. Bring something to sit on and your favorite snacks!
Our STEM + Science Night is hosted by our PTSA. These fun-filled evenings welcome families to participate in shared, hands-on science activities at school.
Our scavenger hunt takes place in the weeks leading up to Halloween. Lincoln families enjoy exploring the neighborhood around Lincoln with fun clues, a special map, and a goodie bag at the final destination.
Gung Xi Fat Choy! In recognition of the Chinese New Year, Primary students put on their own dragon parade through the school. Dressed in red, they ring bells and make special decorations to usher in the New Year. Parents are invited as special guests.
Earth Day looks a little different each year at Lincoln but always includes seed planting, preparing the school garden and learning more about environmental stewardship. Often times, we invite experts in to present to our students. Some topics from recent years include: recycling, single-use plastics, energy conservation, composting and re-using materials.
Earth Day is a wonderful opportunity to emphasize the impact of individual action to help students see how small shifts in daily behaviors can have lasting impacts for our lives and that of the planet.
The Bike Rodeo is a fun-filled event for the whole family that includes: a free bike repair booth, obstacles to ride over, a skills course, family bike parade, helmet decorating, rules of the road station, a slow race (the slowest rider wins), a raffle and more.
Field Day brings together students and teachers every spring for a day of friendly competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie. Students come to Field Day ready for fun and games!
Filled with fun and inspiring acts put on by our students, Lincoln’s Talent Shows never fail to disappoint!
Our 5th graders annually venture to Balarat (DPS’ outdoor education center north of Boulder) for an overnight excursion. Students spend time hiking, learning about the Colorado flora and fauna, and engaging in personal and team challenges.
Our Graduation and Moving Up ceremonies are held in the final weeks of school to celebrate the students who are transitioning from one level to the next. Each level of students has its own special ceremony.
At the end of every year, as part of the “moving up” transition, students have the opportunity to visit their new teacher and spend time in what will be their new classroom environment.
