After School Enrichments

Lincoln students have access to a variety of after-school programs that include art, theater, movement, team building, STEAM activities, foreign language classes and more. Enrichments are now managed by the DPS Extended Learning and Community Schools (ELCS) department. For specific questions, please contact enrichment_extendedlearning@dpsk12.org or call 303-548-8126. The Lincoln office support will not be able to assist with enrichment questions.

Programs run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Session lengths, registration info, fees, schedule, and all other relevant information is handled directly by each vendor and is included below. For more information about a specific program, please visit the vendor website and reach out to them directly.

This year, all Enrichments (except for Girls on the Run) will start at 3:25 pm. Teachers will dismiss students at 3:10 to go to the gym and meet their enrichment teacher.

ENRICHMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Some of our Community Partners have class-specific scholarships available, depending on overall enrollment (information below). Scholarships are awarded based on the provider’s scholarship policy. There is no guarantee that a scholarship will be awarded, and if awarded it will be after the registration period ends. Complete this application to apply. REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Review the ELCS Enrichment Policies document carefully prior to registration to ensure you are properly prepared when registration opens. Please make sure all updates to your account information are made before you begin registration or you may experience delays in your registration process.

Registration opens Friday, August 9th at 6:00 am.
Registration closes Wednesday, August 21st at 10:00 pm.

Art for Life – All-in-1 Art Class

Sculpt, paint, and make crafts with award-winning artists for teachers! We’ll sculpt animals, paint with watercolors & acrylics, and make unique crafts & jewelry. Have fun creating art. Learn problem-solving & critical-thinking skills. We believe art gives a child confidence and builds their self-esteem. What better way to grow than to be doing something they love? Come join us. Creative Dance – Poms & Cheer

This class is designed to improve self-confidence, physical health, and teamwork skills all while having a ton of fun! Learn and perfect arm movements, cheers, chants, and choreography that are full of excitement and energy. Are you planning on trying out for the dance or cheer team? Or, if you just enjoy using poms while dancing, this class will help develop your strength and flexibility.
Pom poms will be provided for students to use. Family and friends are invited to observe the last 15 minutes of the session’s final meeting.

Mind-In-Spire Build and Program Robots for Fun!

Students will learn how to design, build, and test their own robots for fun. They will learn how to create their own robots from idea to plan to execute their designs. Build their Lego EV3 machines.
Program their creations for both remote and autonomous play. Have fun while learning!

Nexplore – Business – Project Pioneer

Nexplore Business – Project Pioneer sets the foundation for young entrepreneurs to put on an unforgettable one-time event like a carnival or haunted house or build a unique product like a
cookbook. As students plan their projects, they take on the responsibilities of different teams like sales, design, marketing, and event planning to get real experience organizing and completing a
large project. Each lesson provides a framework and guide for students to build real finance, project management, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.

Berlitz Spanish – K-2nd

Girls on the Run

Over a period of 8-10 weeks, girls in the 3rd- 6th grade participate in an after-school program like no other. Designed to allow every girl to recognize her inner strength, the Girls on the Run curriculum inspires girls to define their lives on their own terms. Throughout the season, the girls make new friends, build their confidence and celebrate all that makes them unique. At the end of each session, the girls participate in a 5K run. Completing the 5K gives the girls a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment, as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. HERO Kids Sports – HERO Fantastic 9 Sports

Instead of just one sport, you get to try them all! Explore a world of sports excitement without the pressure of competition with HERO Fantastic 9 Sports! Our program redefines the FUN in sports, providing a dynamic mix of skill-building and exhilarating experiences. LEGO Brikster Club – Pokemon Fun

Join us for an hour of LEGO fun each week with projects inspired by the Pokémon card game and cartoon! During our class we will “catch” Pokémon, learn STEAM concepts, and have creative fun! With battery packs, motors, and the WeDo2 block programming app, all our Pokémon creations really get moving! Let’s catch them all!

Girls on the Run

Movement Madness

Movement Madness gives kids a great place to release their energy after a long school day, throughout the summer or on a school day off. We provide encouragement that builds self esteem, movement to keep them healthy, games to teach sports skills, teamwork and sportsmanship along with fun and laughter with new and old friends to develop social and emotional well being. Movement Madness is the Denver, Colorado-based sports and fitness after-school enrichment program that provides students with an hour or more of fun, physical fitness and activity in a fun and non-competitive environment. Movement Madness began in 2006 at Steele Elementary and was created by mom of three and former teacher Jenny Cargile. Our classes encourage kids to get their bodies moving, learn and improve sports skills and work on team building and sportsmanship – while having fun! We do this through a variety of fun, fast paced physical education games. Kids need to get moving and this is what we do at Movement Madness. We provide a fun and exciting way for kids to get/ stay fit mentally , emotionally , socially as well as physically. Offer kids a fun way to get the needed 60 min.

Slow Food Denver – Seed to Plate Cooking

Slow Food Denver’s Seed to Plate program features a series of playful and interactive cooking lessons that teach children the entire seed-to-plate process in a fun, engaging environment. Trained instructors use multicultural recipes and seasonal, locally sourced produce to illuminate the connection between where food comes from and how it is prepared. While exploring these topics, students will experience fresh flavors and ingredients firsthand as they gain confidence in expressing their creativity in the kitchen! By chopping, measuring, tasting, and mixing, your child will become more empowered and inspired by their relationship to food. These educational and stimulating classes leave more than full bellies and smiling faces in their wake, they create self-assured young chefs with lifelong eating habits that are healthy and informed.

Sound Formation – Piano Lessons

4 Levels of Curriculum for New and Returning Students. Our incredibly fun and simple system for learning piano will have you rapidly playing the chords, melodies, and bass lines to all of your favorite modern songs whether from movies, pop artists, or other musical heroes. This curriculum develops your core musical skills which will accelerate your musical feel, rhythm, and ability to understand music. Electric keyboards, headphones, and workbooks are provided.
