Heat Day – Early Release on 9/10/2021

Dear Lincoln Families,
As you may be aware, we have been using a variety of measures to ensure our school stays open and our students feel comfortable during extremely hot days. Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of students and staff. If the temperature within the building rises to a degree that we feel is unsafe to host classes, there is a possibility that our school may have an early-release Heat Day. Weather forecasters say temperatures in Denver tomorrow and Friday will hit 97 degrees. We believe that we will be able to manage the heat in the building tomorrow since today was not as hot, it is the consecutive days of heat that make it challenging to keep inside temperatures manageable on Friday.
I am writing to let you know that we will have an early-release Heat Day, Friday, September 10, 2021. All students will be dismissed at noon. Students will have the opportunity to have lunch at school before leaving at 12:00. Students who ride the bus will have an accommodated schedule for afternoon transportation home. If you do not wish for your child to ride the bus on Friday, please let your child’s teacher know or call the front office
I understand this is short notice, an inconvenience for many of our families, and that childcare may be an issue for some. I am available to answer questions you may have regarding the early-release Heat Day.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our school, and I very much appreciate your patience as we successfully navigate through the first weeks of the school year.
Kindly-
Emily Clark- Principal
