Social-Emotional Screener:  Denver Public Schools is using a universal social-emotional screener, the Behavioral and Emotional Screener System (BESS), for ALL students 3rd grade through 6th grade.  This social and emotional screener is an online tool used throughout Denver Public Schools. The data/information is de-identified for confidentiality. It takes approximately ten minutes to complete, and consists of 28 questions for the student Self-Report form.  Please review this passive permission form to read more about the social and emotional screener. If you consent to your child’s participation, you do not need to take any further steps. If you choose to request your child not participate in social and emotional screening and therefore OPT OUT, please complete this survey to OPT OUT at your earliest convenience.

If your child is in Kindergarten through 6th grade, you can contribute to our data and support better programming for families and students by completing the BESS Social Emotional Screener Parent Form by Sunday 9/20. To do so, simply click on the link, enter your child’s ID number, answer the questions, and submit the survey.

We thank you for collaboration as we work to support all of our students. If you have any questions or concerns about this screening, visit this Frequently Asked Questions Page or contact Lincoln’s School Psychologist, Leann Risten at leann_risten@dpsk12.org
