LIBRARY

Book2: During the 1934-35  school year a library was set up to help parents with their parenting duties. There was an inventory of 80 books that year.

Today Lincoln Library is a warm inviting place that teachers, children, and visitors seem to enjoy.  Our collection of books has grown to 4,700 copies that the children are able to check-out during their weekly visit to the library. Besides our circulation of books in our main section of the library we are proud of our language text selection that is available to the teachers for their use during literacy block each day.  We also have a small teacher/parent resource section.

Books of interest for your student or gift ideas…….

The boys seemed drawn to anything about sports, especially football.  Another interest seems to be dragons, particularly brightly illustrated texts.

For the primary classes Eric Carle books are always a hit.  For beginning chapter books, Henry and Mudge or Mr. Putter and Tabby, both written by Cynthia Rylant, are a good choice.

Girls seem to like animal stories and the fairytale section of the library. The American Girls Collection is a nice idea for gift giving.

The older students are reading the Series of Unfortunate Events, volumes 1 through 11. Another author the kids and I both like is Sharon Creech.

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg is a popular gift idea this season.
